A Scout is Reverent
Scouting units at St. Basil celebrated Scout Sunday on February 13. Each year, we celebrate Scout Sunday with honor and respect to mark the anniversary of the birth of Scouting. Thank you to Fr. Matt for involving all of our Scouts (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA and Venture Crew) in the mass.

Kids Capes of Courage
Troops 652B and 652G recently assisted Kids Capes of Courage, a nonprofit organization based in Akron, Ohio. Scouts, leaders and parents did a good turn for the community by cutting fabric into capes that will help provide children with encouragement and joy during difficult times.

Klondike Derby 2022
More than 3' of snow and frigid temps didn't stop our troop at this year's Klondike Derby. In fact, it made the competition more fun! Twelve scouts and two adults participated in Lake Erie Council's event January 28-29 at Beaumont Scout Reservation in Ashtabula County. The younger scouts competed in traditional derby events and team-building activities while the older scouts decided that the campsite needed a new shelter. So they built an igloo large enough to fit 6-8 scouts! You can check out all of our activities and see photos on Facebook.

Congratulations, Aleksandr!

Helping at Coats for Kids Cleveland
In late December, the troop provided service to the community by sorting and organizing donated goods at Coats for Kids Cleveland. Coats were separated by size and gender for cleaning and distribution to those in need in greater Cleveland.

Wreaths Across America 2021
On December 18, we were honored to participate in Wreaths Across America with AT&T Pioneers Northeast Council and BSA Girls Troop 652. During the ceremony at North Royalton Cemetery, we joined other groups across the nation who were all laying wreaths to remember our fallen U.S. veterans and honor those who serve.

Congratulations, Wyatt!

COH Celebrates 18+ Months of Achievements
The troop held a Court of Honor (COH) on November 3 to celebrate over 18+ months of achievements. Despite the pandemic, our troop members continued to learn, lead and achieve. Scouts were recognized by their peers for a total of 42 rank advancements, 264 merit badges and 39 special awards. Wow! Special recognition was given to our older scouts for their incredible leadership and work. Our troop doubled in size when 17 new troop members bridged or joined in spring 2021.

Falling for Autumn Camping
The boys' troop has been enjoying the autumn weather with some weekend camping. Recently, our campouts have included a corn maze, fishing, and campfire cooking plus a camporee with archery, rappelling, tomahawk throwing, two-man saw competition and shooting black powder muzzle loaders.
