Campouts & Outings

Troop 652 camps once a month, offering a variety of opportunities including district events, one or two summer camps, winter camping, family camping, backpacking, hiking, high adventure trips and more. Occasionally, Troop 652B and Troop 652G do these types of activities together.

Many troop members attend every campout. Some scouts may choose only campouts that interest them. The camping program is designed to meet a variety of interests. Campouts also provide specific opportunities to learn and meet Scout skill requirements needed to advance in rank.

Each campout has a fee based on the number of meals, any site usage fees, or special event fees. Sign-up is required in advance and specific timing requirements are published prior to the campout. Any parent may participate in a campout.

In place of a weekend campout, the troop may choose to do a daylong event such as a hike, backpacking excursion, winter sport or field trip.

Fees and sign-ups must be done in a timely manner to allow disbursement of food money and determine transportation needs. Registered adult leaders are usually able to accommodate transportation to most campouts. However, there is an occasional need for additional drivers or volunteers to stay overnight at camp.

A permission slip and the BSA Health & Medical Form are required for every attendee at a campout or outing outside the normal troop meeting. Council events require an activity acknowledgement form. These forms should be turned in at the muster point prior to the campout or activity.

Last minute details about the campouts are occasionally communicated through email or GroupMe. Members should speak with the scoutmaster or contact the troop to get connected.
