On the Trail
At a troop meeting this month, older scouts headed out on the Buckeye Trail for a 5-mile backpacking hike while our younger scouts spent some quality time on the trails in the Brecksville Reservation. The younger scouts ran into a group of Cub Scouts on the Metroparks trail and invited the Cubs to join them on the hike. Scouts and leaders thoroughly enjoyed this weekly meeting in the Great Outdoors.

2025 Summer Camp at Manatoc
Our troop members spent a week at Camp Manatoc's BSA summer camp in June. It was a stormy, wet week of camp in Peninsula, Ohio; campers experienced 6” of rain and 8” of mud! Twenty-nine boys, six girls, and a handful of our troop leaders attended camp, participating in merit badges, camp games and activities, and many games of gaga ball. Troop 652 has a long history of attending Camp Manatoc's annual summer camp.
Troop Fundraiser: Pop & Water Sale
Our troop will be out in force at Brecksville Home Days (June 20-22). Stop by the Troop 652 booth or keep an eye out for our our tan shirts and water wagons at the event. Our pop and water sale will help quench your thirst and, while you're there, we can give a quick lesson on scout knots. Learn more about our troop fundraisers.
Look to the Skies
The troop had a wonderful campout in May in Montville (Geauga County, Ohio). Scouts fished in the campground ponds all day, enjoying the gorgeous weather. In the evening, we headed to Observatory Park for a planetarium show. We took a hike around the Astronomy Trail, and once it was dark, we used two of the park's large telescopes to look at the moon's surface and Jupiter with four of its moons.
Achievements Celebrated at Troop COH
Troops 652B and 652G held their first combined Court of Honor in early May. We recognized our scouts for earning over 70 badges, 11 awards, and 28 ranks. Leaders awarded three summer camp scholarships, and we recognized Mr. Christian for his retirement as Advancement Chair, a role he managed for both troops the last ten years.
Trash the Trash Day on May 3
Rain can't stop us from providing service to the community! Boys from 652 participated in a really rainy Trash the Trash Day, putting in some conservation work and helping to clean up the Morgana Run Trail in Cleveland's Slavic Village. The boys removed 24 tires from the trail!
