American Heritage Weekend at Camp Tuscazoar
Scouts and leaders spent a weekend at Camp Tuscazoar in Dover, Ohio learning about American history and heritage including the American Civil War. They hiked to Zoar Village for a Civil War reenactment of the Bloody Battle of Chickamauga, which took place from September 18-20, 1863 in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia. While at Zoar, the troop interacted with living history actors that spoke about a specific time and place in our American past.

Ready for a ‘Scouting Adventure’ with 652?
Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts... ready to visit a Scouts BSA troop? Complete your AOL 'Scouting Adventure' requirements with our troop. Visit a troop meeting with your parent or guardian and, if possible, with your den members and leaders (requirement 2). Also, with your den leader, parent, or guardian, participate in a troop’s campout or other outdoor activity (requirement 4). Contact us for details about our meeting schedule and upcoming fall activities, including our November campout. We would love to have you visit!

Wednesdays are for Scouting!
We are pleased to announce that, beginning in September, all Scouting units at St. Basil will meet on Wednesday evenings. Cub Scout Pack 652, Troop 652 for Boys and Troop 652 for Girls, plus Venture Crew 652 will all hold their meetings on the same day. Schedules and location may vary occasionally based on unit needs and planned activities. Check with your unit leader for details! Learn more about Pack 652 (grades K-5), Troop 652 for Boys (ages 11-17), Troop 652 for Girls (ages 11-17) and Crew 652 (ages 14-21).

Pack 652 Open House on August 30
Our troop's affiliate, Cub Scout Pack 652, will host an open house event for boys and girls in grades K-5 and their families on Wednesday, August 30 from 6:00-8:00 PM at St. Basil. Stop by for fun activities, meet our member families, and learn more about Scouting. The Cub Scouts program is for kids ages 5-10. Scouts Inducted Into Order of the Arrow
Congratulations to Troy and Justin on completing their Ordeal and being inducted into BSA's Order of the Arrow! The Order of the Arrow is the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America, composed of Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives as elected by their peers.

Eagle Scouts Seek Adventure at Sea Base USVI
In late July, two of our troop's Eagle Scouts had the experience of a lifetime sailing, snorkeling and seeking adventure in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Wyatt and Easton were invited to join BSA Troop 390 Fairlawn to be part of a crew that visited BSA's Sea Base St. Thomas USVI. The scouts spent a week living on a 53' sailboat, hiking trails across islands they visited, and exploring incredible underwater spaces.

Summer Camp #2 at Beaumont Scout Reservation
Small Boat Sailing. Welding. Shotgun Shooting. Climbing. Kayaking. Game Design. Movie Making. Engineering. A friendly group of scouts from Troop 652 spent a second week of summer camp at Beaumont Scout Reservation learning, playing and enjoying the great outdoors. They had a blast and are already looking forward to summer camp in 2024! How did you spend your summer?

Crew 652 Bikes C&O Canal Towpath
A few of our troop members joined Crew 652 for a high adventure trip on the bike trail! The crew spent a week biking 185 miles along the C&O Canal Towpath. Follow their travels on the BSA Venturing Crew 652 Facebook page.

A Century of Summer Camp at Manatoc
In mid-June, Troop 652 attended the opening week of summer camp at Manatoc Scout Reservation. This year, Manatoc celebrates its 100th anniversary of Scouting adventures in Peninsula, Ohio. Troop members earned merit badges in Woodwork, Climbing, Weather, Basketry, Rifle Shooting, Canoeing and Archery. They also participated in campwide competitions and activities.
